No vaccine, no work — California
Comments by staff at Cerritos College reveal that staff is asking students about their vaccination status.
Cal/OSHA, officially called the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, has released guidelines that mandate employers to exclude people from work if they lack a Covid-19 vaccination.
"Employers must exclude from work employees who are not fully vaccinated," Cal/OSHA wrote in its guidelines before listing those ineligible from work.
This includes employees sick with Covid-19 and those merely exposed to Covid-19, even if the person doesn't display any symptoms.
"However, employers do not need to exclude fully vaccinated employees who had a COVID-10 exposure who are asymptomatic," the organization's website states.
Vaccine Passports at Cerritos College?
What's scarier is that the Lakewood Populist has also discovered that Cerritos College, after identifying students tested positive with Covid-19 or were judged as having been merely exposed to someone with Covid-19, is asking students about their vaccination status.
"When did your symptoms start or when was your exposure," said Dr. Hillary Mennella, associate dean of Student Health at Cerritos College, at an April 27 forum when describing questions students will be asked.
"We talk about at this point vaccination status: whether you're fully vaccinated or in the middle of getting vaccinated or not vaccinated."
The Lakewood Populist has been trying since Friday to get in touch with Dr. Mennella to get clarification on what she has said at several Covid-19 meetings and forums this year, some of which is quite alarming.
Dr. Mennella warned students at the April 27 forum of a “stigma” attached to students who get Covid-19.
If a student's vaccine status allows that student to come onto campus, while a student's unvaccinated status disallows them from coming onto campus, even if only temporarily, that is a vaccine passport.
Cerritos College told students and the public at its April 27 forum that "Vaccinations are not required at this time."
The Lakewood Populist has updated this story after receiving an email from Miya Walker, Cerritos College director of public affairs.
”Vaccines will not be required for students to return to campus,” wrote Walker. “Vaccination status will not be used to determine whether or not a student can come to campus.”
However, the college does have a sort of health passport system that mirrors the health passports used by the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing, per sources in China and public college meetings and forums. The Lakewood Populist hopes to publish an article about that by tomorrow.
